So here is my first week of showing you whether I have accomplished what I committed to. I have to say that I have had a great week! Before I go over my goals I want to share with you one thing. I have found an accountability partner! Her name is Angie Newton from Losing It and Loving It. It has been fabulous! Angie and I get together on Skype every morning. We hold each other accountable and help each other with out businesses by brainstorming. It has been a lot of fun and very helpful. These daily sessions have helped me become more focused then ever.
Okay are your ready to see what I have accomplished?
Here were my goals for last week:
Article Marketing:
- Get caught up on 100 Articles 100 Days. –I did it!!! I am finally all caught up! I currently have 57 articles. This is a big relief. Now I am getting one article a day and that is a lot easier to handle then four!
- Complete resource box. - Nope I didn’t get it done!
- Submit three articles to ezine articles. –I didn’t get to this either.
Current Affiliate Site:
- Send out my first edition of my affliate newsletter. –I didn’t do this.
- Post three times. –I didn’t get to this either
- Set up opt-in page for my newsletter. –No,didn’t get to this either. Although I do have an opt-in box
Danielle’s Journey:
- Post daily here. –I did this one! I even have a few posts ready to go for next week!
- Write 4 more autoresponder messages. –I didn’t get to this!
- Write a Danielle’s Journey Recommendation page. - I am almost done with this. I had a bit of an issue when creating this. I will share that with you in just a second!
FJ Handprinting:
- Write three more autoresponder messages. –Nope!
- Write 3 Supply pages. This will refer people to products that our useful. –No,I didn’t get to this either.
So I bet you are wondering what I DID do this week!
I had a few disasters happen this week. Well they wouldn’t be such disasters if I were not so technically challenged. It happened when I was setting up redirects for my affiliate links. Redirects are when you create and web address to redirect to your affiliate address. Here is an example. I want to share my affiliate link with someone on Twitter. I will put this web address in:http://daniellesjourney.com/mommasterminds in my tweet and it will send someone to the Mom Mastermind page through my affiliate link. This is important so no one will steal my affiliate code and it makes the link look nice!
So when I set up the redirects,I did something wrong. When I saved the redirects in the .htaccess,I went to go check the links and to make sure they worked and I
got a “500 Internal Error”. I had no idea how to fix it,so I contacted Hostgator. After contacting them twice and doing what they said the links still were not working! So I gave up for the night. The next night I follow some videos and tried to create redirects by creating an index.php file for each redirect. When I went to check if it worked I just got a blank page!! Once again I contacted Hostgator. They said that when I uploaded the new index.php file it overwrote my main index.php file. So I erased the structure of the main page on my website. So they fixed it. Next I tried to create a index.html file for the redirects. Guess what happened this time? I did it again!! I erased the index.php file! I had Hostgator fixed it once again and quite for the night.
The third day I started a thread on the SSWT’s Elite board. I quickly got an answer from Traci Knoppe from Genesis Blogging! I did what she said and it didn’t work. Then I thought “what if I put the redirects in one at a time and see if I have a bad link?” So I did exactly what Traci said and I discovered I DID have a bad link!! So This is what took a bunch of my time this week! So instead of creating a bunch of content for my websites I was busy with the technical side. I am proud that I figured it out and I am grateful I had some help from Traci and Hostgator to fix my issues!
Another thing I did this week is I found a new niche. This is a very hot niche. It is one that is time-sensitive as well. So my husband is taking a day off next week so that I can go stay somewhere else and get this website up and going. Also I recruited two of my sister-in-laws,my sister and niece to write articles about the subject. They are well-versed in the niche where I am not! I am very excited about this niche because I know I will begin making money from this quickly if I get the search engine optimization going right!
Here are this weeks goals:
Article Marketing
- Continue to write articles every day for 100 Articles 100 Days.
Danielle’s Journey
- Post Daily
New affiliate Site
- Edit posts
- Set up autoresponder.
- work on deep linking to products.
- Make sure is page is search engine optimized.
- Set up twitter account for new pen name.
- Make sure all loose ends are tied up.
So as you can see I wasn’t able to accomplish exactly what was on my list for last week but many great things happened. I am so excited about my new website and my new accountability partner! I will be focusing on this new niche affiliate site this week and will be back to developing my other sites the following week. So I will see you back here next week to show what I have done!
To a successful week,
P.S. With my new niche website I am setting it up specifically for Christmas. If you are interested in getting something going for Christmas, why not start a Santa Letter Business? That would be fun and it is a great time of year to plan everything out!

I think it sounds like you got quite a bit accomplished even if it wasn’t on your goal list. An accountability partner sounds like a great idea,I need to find one.

You have accomplished a lot this week and made it through a lot of trials without pulling your hair out I might add ha ha
It’s been absolutely fantastic being accountability partners with you. I really enjoy the daily chats. I think that is what pushes me to get my to do list done and I have learned a lot too.
Here’s to a great week! And I can’t wait to meet you at NAMS in Jan. That will be a blast.
