Today’s MUSING MONDAYS post is about award winning books…
Do you feel compelled to read prize-winning (Giller/Booker/Pulitzer etc) books? Why,or why not? Is there, perhaps, one particular award that you favour? (question courtesy of MizB)
This is a no brain-er for me. The answer is no,absolutely no I am not compelled or ever desire to read prize-winning books. Here is why:I don’t agree with the judges. I have never really been impressed by books that have awards. The judges most of the time enjoy books that I don’t! So I would rather go and see what my friends say on good reads then look for books with awards!

Hey there,I am probably of the same attitude, however,I do like to see what has one the Newberry (sp) award, usually it is kids and young adult books. They are usually good ones.
Hi Sis! I guess I have to admit I do pay attention to the kids prize-winning books. They are usually good!
Most of my friends don’t really read.. hence,I find blogs/award lists to be the feeder for my TBR.
I don’t often agree with the books that were chosen either. mine
Oh I started a book discussion forum called Cafe Blue. Hope you can drop by for a visit. Cafe Blue
I have to agree! I am not greatly moved by a book winning a prize or award. Some group may think they are great, but that is not always my experience.
Same here.. I prefer to read something recommended by my friends and blogging friends
I liked 4 out of 7 books so the 3 books I read were considered a waste for me
I’ve tried some award winners but did not really enjoy the experience
